Big Kahuna Reef 2: Chain Reaction Review
Written by: David Laprad Published: December 14, 2006 Can too much of a good thing be bad for you? You'll be qualified to answer that question after beating Big Kahuna Reef 2: Chain Reaction. The sequel to the popular match-three offering comes with more than 700 levels split into three underwater campaigns -- making it the last casual game some people will need to buy. Reflexive Entertainment developed the first two campaigns in-house. Each contains 100 game boards of various shapes and sizes divided into grids filled with marine bric-a-brac. Your mission is to swap two items to create matches of three or more objects until one or more matches has been made over each square on the board. The heartbeat of Big Kahuna 2 is setting off chain reactions that bust the locks on several game pieces and allow seashells and starfish to pour into the empty squares on the screen. (Some chain reactions clear the entire level in a splash of spectacular visual effects.) The third campaign contains hundreds of user-designed game boards. You can then download even more homebrewed levels online! This doesn't leave much time for enjoying Big Kahuna Reef 2's aquarium -- which allows you to unlock over 40 beautifully animated fish and switch the deep sea backgrounds through which they swim. No one who buys Big Kahuna Reef 2 will complain about not getting his or her money's worth. That's because the game's fun factor lives up to its name!
