Bird Pirates Review
Written by: David Laprad Published: May 18, 2007 Bird Pirates from Big Fish Games put a smile on my face the moment I started playing it. Like every Zuma clone, you must eliminate a procession of colored objects by shooting even more of the objects at the chain and making matches of at least three of the same color. In the case of Bird Pirates, the objects just happen to be a gathering of your fine-feathered friends. Unlike similar games, though, you have to knock a bird off the chain in order to make the one you just shot out of your cannon at the bottom of the screen join the parade. There are plenty of bonuses, too, although you've seen most of them in other games. So if Bird Pirates is similar to every other Zuma imitator on the market, why did it earn a high score? For starters, it's fun, thanks to how well the developers integrated the pirate theme into the game. There are plenty of backgrounds on pirate ships, for example, and in a nod to the artists, the buccaneer clothes on the birds are a hoot. Also, the mini-game, in which you bounce birds across a lake, is a nice diversion between levels. Above all, the graphics are colorful and easy on the eyes. Even if you've had your fill of these kinds of games, Bird Pirates is worth trying. Scoring (out of five stars):Graphics: Ease of use: Gameplay: Challenge: Sound effects: Music: Final analysis: |
