Brickshooter Egypt Review
Published: May 20, 2006 Brickshooter Egypt from Terminal Studio is a good example of a casual game that takes one minute to learn, yet provides a gratifying mental workout. Despite the title, you don't shoot bricks; rather, you slide them into place from the edges of a game board to create matches of three or more bricks of the same color. On the board is an arrangement of colored glyphs you must remove. When you include a glyph in a match, it's gone. You can't slide a brick onto the board, however, unless there's another object there stop it. The bricks you slide into place continue across the board in the same direction if the items holding them in place disappear in match. Furthermore, three rows of bricks are lined up along each side of the board. All of this makes it possible to plan ahead and create impressive combos. Indeed, Brickshooter Egypt is built around carefully setting up chain reactions, so there's no timer forcing you to hurry. What's more, a helpful undo button allows you to take one or more steps back if needed. Plus, the audio and visual presentation adds just enough Egyptian ambience to enhance the experience. Congratulations to Terminal Studio on a game well done; I imagine even the Pharaohs of Ancient Egypt would be pleased.
