Charm Tale 2: Mermaid Lagoon Review
Written by: David Laprad Published: January 25, 2008 The free trial versions of most games give you one hour to see whether or not you'll like a release. You won't need that long to make up your mind about Charm Tale 2: Mermaid Lagoon. The game pulls you in right from the start with its story about a modern woman who's drawn to some strange lights on the ocean and soon makes an amazing discovery. The gameplay will entice you as well. In essence, you must click and drag your mouse cursor over chains of the same color of gems. When those gems disappear from the game grid, more take their place. In normal mode, you must click on a set number of gems before time runs out; in relaxed mode, you've got all the time in the world to make your matches. Charm Tale 2 offers a number of unique twists. If you create a chain of eight or more gems, for example, you get a mega gem that will split into multiple smaller gems when you include it in a match. You can also collect coins with which you can buy powerups that can help you complete each level. One example would be the Tornado, which rearranges the gems on a portion of the game board. Between levels, you can play a hidden object mini-game. While the visuals and audio in Mermaid Lagoon are very good, the gameplay has more than enough charms to warrant the many hours you'll spend immersed in this delightful undersea fantasy.
