Chicken Invaders 3 Review
Written by: David Laprad Published: April 9, 2007 Have you ever watched someone playing Space Invaders? The expression on their face is often tense as they slide their ship along the bottom of the screen, firing missiles at aliens that attack from above. Between the crazed look in their eyes and the sweat on their brow as they abuse the joystick, you have to wonder if they're having fun. Not so with someone who's playing Chicken Invaders 3 from Interaction Studios. The only thing you'll see on their face is a big, goofy grin. As its title would suggest, Chicken Invaders 3 casts you as the lone defense between a fowl menace and the destruction of the human race. (It seems chickens are fed up with being grilled, fried and otherwise prepared for consumption.) For 120 stages, you'll mow down wave after wave of fine-feathered foes while grabbing powerups and avoiding hard-boiled eggs. A solid shooter lies buried beneath the slapstick in Chicken Invaders 3. The controls are smooth, the weapons are satisfying and the graphics are good. Plus, the level design stays fresh throughout, with new enemies and other twists appearing on a regular basis. The developers didn't skimp on the extras, either, but rather included cinematics, a 15-minute soundtrack, 30 bonuses, 13 medals, a bevy of secrets, online high score tables, multiplayer over a LAN or the Internet and comprehensive support for input devices. What more could a fan of arcade shooters ask for? Not much. Scoring (out of five stars):Graphics: Ease of use: Gameplay: Challenge: Sound effects: Music: Final analysis: |
