As the Diner Dash category of games boils over in popularity, one has to wonder if developers can add anything new to the established formula. Enter Delicious Deluxe from Big Fish Games, which takes you behind the counter and into the kitchen.

The set up is familiar: A young woman travels from city to city, opening restaurants. She has one week to improve each eatery, and must earn a minimum amount of money each day. Unlike similar games, customers seat themselves and broadcast their orders from across the room. The only time our apron-bedecked heroine has to take an order is when someone requests a meal to go at the counter. She then cooks the food, delivers it, cashes out the customer and cleans up their mess. As you progress, new clients and additional duties in the kitchen pile up like dirty dishes. The emphasis is on speed and task management rather than action combos, though, so the challenges are fresh.

Simply put, Delicious Deluxe is a joy to play and as addictive as the best in its category. It has a number of quirks, the funniest of which is a table for one ordering two cappuccinos, but none of them impair the gameplay in any way. If you love Snowy: Lunch Rush, Diner Dash and their ilk, Delicious Deluxe should be the next game you try.
