Diner Dash: Flo on the Go Review
Written by: David Laprad Published: December 15, 2006 Entire categories of casual games based on jobs most of us would rather not do have cropped up. Case in point: Diner Dash and others like it. The very thought of serving the hungry masses tires me. I admire those who do it day after day. But I enjoy the Diner Dash series -- and am content to sit for hours on my rear end doing the same things I'd rather not do on my feet. Flo on the Go is PlayFirst's third game in the Diner Dash series. It's also the best. You'll handle the crowds at five different restaurants and spend time selecting new outfits for Flo wear as she advances from one vacation spot to the next. Additional customers appear (many of whom are fussy about where they sit) and the developers have worked in a few clever twists to increase the challenge (such as tourists who break up your action combos by asking you to take their picture). I can't stress this enough: the level design is brilliant. The first half of the game is a breeze -- but the pressure to be smart about where you seat customers and how you handle them once they're down increases considerably at the midway point. This makes Flo on the Go one of the most absorbing games of its kind. I only hope PlayFirst upgrades the visuals and animation for the next sequel.
