Dracula Twins Review
Published: November 1, 2006 Remember when good guys were heroes and bad guys always took a fall? It was a black and white world that was easy to understand. At some point, however, the lines blurred and we began to cheer on the villains. That's the case in Dracula Twins from Legendo Entertainment, in which you take the role of one of the children of the undead count as he or she sets out to save dear old dad from the clutches of Dr. Lifelust, a vampire killer. Being that this is a 3D platform game, doing so entails the usual laundry list of running, jumping, fighting and puzzle solving. The controls are ultra-smooth. Even actions which normally would be considered complex, such as performing a double jump and then slamming to the ground to bust open a crate, can be pulled off with ease. But the real star of the game is the visuals. As the camera moves through each level, turning and sliding to maintain a sideways view on the action, the nightmarish cartoon world seems to pop out of your screen like a 3D storybook. Stylish graveyards and castles take center stage but don't detract from the superb animation of the twins or the atmospheric weather effects. Good platform games are a rarity on the PC, so if Dracula Twins sounds up your alley, grab it now.
