Koi Solitaire Review
Written by: David Laprad Published: May 7, 2007 Koi Solitaire from Gamehouse is one of those rare casual games that offers something new even as it's tickling your eyes with pretty graphics. In the game, you remove playing cards one at a time from a conveyor belt and place them on a grid. You must build off of a place card already on the grid, playing cards of any suit one higher or lower than the place card. So, for example, if there's a King of Hearts on the grid when the level begins, you can place any Queen or Ace next to it. If you let the parade of cards reach the end of the belt, where a cat lays waiting, you lose. Don't worry, though; bonuses appear on the belt from time to time, such as an hourglass that stops the procession for a short time. You can also place cards in order, from lowest to highest, on a bonus stack located near the grid. What's more, clicking the cat while he's sleeping will turn the card closest to him into a Joker that can be played anywhere. Wild cards you can't see until you pick them up come into play, too. As you clear cards from the grid, a beautiful Japanese garden appears in its place, although the visuals aren't what will bring you back for more. Rather, Koi Solitaire is relaxing and easy to get into, just like a casual game should be. If you're looking for a simple, engrossing and attractive game, Koi Solitaire fits the bill.
