Loco Review
Published: October 24, 2006 Loco from Interaction Studios is a Zuma clone for train lovers. Your task is to fill freight cars with various vegetables and fruits in order to eliminate the Locomotive before it reaches the tunnel at the end of each winding track. Red cars require one or more apples, green cars need to be filled with pears, and so on. If you get rid of a yellow car by filling it with bananas, and two red cars slam into each other, they disappear, too, allowing you to create combos. Powerups appear from time to time, letting you slow down the train or shoot fireballs at the cars. Some maps contain multiple cannon and even more than one track, creating tense moments as Loco increases in challenge. Loco has a lot going for it, including smooth controls, crisp graphics and an addictive core mechanic. It features only one visual theme (green foliage), though, and it doesn't help that all of the levels look and play alike. That said, Loco has enough charm (and steam) to earn a solid three-star rating.
