Mind Medley Review
Written by: David Laprad Published: Sept. 30, 2007 Many of us keep in shape physically. We exercise and eat healthy in an effort to keep our bodies fit. But what about our minds? Are we turning into a nation of mental couch potatoes, stuffing ourselves with sitcoms and video games while our brains grow soft? If so, Mind Medley from Real Arcade offers a solution. Mind Medley provides a true mental workout in the form of 16 mini-games. You can beef up your grey matter with Memory Match, in which you click on as many matches as possible; Find New Image, in which you click on the newest picture to appear on the screen; and Color Match, in which you click on the items whose names matches their color. The selection of games is clever and varied. There are two game modes in Mind Medley: Practice and Lumens. In Practice, you can play any of the challenges you've unlocked to your heart's content, earning Gold, Silver and Bronze medals for your performance. In Lumens, you play six random challenges. If you do well, more games open up in Practice mode. Lumens tracks your progress over time, provides feedback and gives you new goals. If you're like me, you could use the motivation. You've got to think fast and click carefully when playing Mind Medley, so the faint of heart need not apply. But if you're looking to stretch your medulla oblongata, it's among the best games of its kind. It sure beats reading War and Peace.
