Plant Tycoon Review
Written by: David Laprad Published: October 18, 2007 Not all casual games involve color matching, although having a green thumb would make you a good match for the latest game from Last Day Of Work. Plant Tycoon is a gardening sim in which you nurture plants and build your business into a lavish nursery empire. The object of the game is to breed and crossbreed vegetation until you find the six Magic Plants of Isola and solve a genetic puzzle. You start with a few dollars, a handful of seeds, and some soil and water. Each new level challenges you to grow plants, organize and harvest seeds, monitor the health, age and maturity of your plants, and protect your plants from dehydration and infestations. Between stages, you can sell your creations to fund your research, buy better supplies for your nursery and purchase ornaments to customize your virtual garden. Plant Tycoon is a unique game that requires a moderate degree of strategy. You also need to have patience, as it can be played in real time. With this option checked, your plants will die of thirst and become infested with bugs if you don't tend to them every day. The only real problem with Plant Tycoon, though, is a general sense of, "What now?" You might forget something while caring for a plant, or a plant might take a long time to grow, making you think you've done something wrong. Other than that, the gameplay in Plant Tycoon is relaxing and enjoyable, and the graphics please the eye. So if you're tired of match three games, hidden object titles or waitress sims, set aside an evening and see if Plant Tycoon grows on you.
