Ricochet Infinity Review
Written by: David Laprad Published: August 29, 2007 Reviewing Ricochet Infinity, a Breakout style game from Reflexive Arcade, is kind of like trying to describe my favorite sandwich. The Muffuletta has all the right ingredients, it tastes wonderful and when I'm hungry, nothing else will fill the void in my stomach. That's how it is with Ricochet Infinity. It has every feature you could ever imagine, the gameplay is incredible and when I sit down at my computer to relax, it's the first thing I go for. If you've ever played a RICOCHET game, you have but an inkling of what to expect. Not only are there more stages than ever before, the level design is spectacular. I can't even fathom the scripting required to turn bricks into an animated moon buggy, but REFLEXIVE pulled it off. And not only are there more 3D rendered backgrounds, they look smoother and more detailed than ever. Fans will also enjoy the new weapons and powerups. But the real kicker is the new Recall feature, which allows you to draw the ball to where you want it to go, such as toward one of the five gold rings you can capture on each level to earn bonus points and upgrades. Simply put, Breakout games will never be the same. In terms of features, Ricochet Infinity is stacked high, like a good Muffuletta. Global high scores, Multiplayer Mouse Party modes and thousands of user levels online are just the start. If you're a Breakout fan, you might as well "break open" your wallet now, because after you play the free trial, you're going to want more.
