Snowy: Treasure Hunter 2 Review
Published: October 31, 2006 Snowy is really just too cute to handle in one sitting. In Snowy: Treasure Hunter 2 from Alawar Entertainment, you once again get to guide this adorable little polar bear through a series of side-scrolling platform puzzles, avoiding enemies such as giant apes, Mayan tribesman and dragons. Using nothing more than a pickaxe for digging, your task is to collect all of the gems, gold bars and precious statuary lying around each level. Normally, you'd assume a polar bear would be the hunter and not the hunted, but I guess one must trade off a certain amount of predatory viciousness for the kind of cute factor Snowy has, so in this case, you're constantly on the run while striving to collect anything of value. Treasure Hunter 2 goes the extra mile to add more to the experience. For starters, there are many new level types and opponents. The Asian-themed maps, which show off the graphical polish nicely, are excellent. The artificial intelligence has been ramped up significantly, too, so there's much more challenge involved. (If anything, there's too much more; some levels are a little frustrating). Don't let that dissuade you, though; this is still an excellent brain teaser.
