Turtle Odyssey 2 Review
Written by: David Laprad Published: March 19, 2007 Some of life's grandest adventures begin as mistakes. Take Ozzy the Turtle, for example. In his first game, he set out to recover treasure thieves had stolen from his home. The side-scrolling platform adventure was a hit, so developer and publisher Realore fashioned a sequel. This time, Ozzy follows a strange creature he accidentally set free during a game of catch. As with most follow-ups, the elements that made the original fun (exploration, item collection and Mario-style action) return while the overall package is bigger and better. Ozzy's journey to catch up to the mysterious being takes him through 50 stages spread across six beautiful game worlds. I don't use the word "beautiful" lightly, either. The visual splendor seen throughout the offering became one of my primary motivators for pressing forward; I couldn't wait to see what was next! I also kept playing to discover all of the secret areas and overcome the clever timing challenges. My only disappointment was with Ozzy's animation, which is still a bit stiff and makes jumping less smooth than it should be. That quibble aside, Turtle Odyssey 2 comes out of its shell as one of the best new platform adventures for the PC. Scoring (out of five stars):Graphics: Ease of use: Gameplay: Challenge: Sound effects: Music: Final analysis: |
