Word Krispies Review
Published: October 25, 2006 Educational games can be a hard sell. However, occasional titles slip under the "Learning? Yuck!" radar and appeal to us despite their character-building tendencies. Word Krispies from Encore is one of these, built as it is upon the same principals that made Scrabble an enduring classic. The basic plot is that you need to eat through box after box of cereal, searching for your mom's wedding ring. How that band of gold managed to get lost in breakfast food is something I'll leave for you to discover on your own. No spoilers for you! The gameplay is simple. You connect letters that are printed on puffs of cereal floating in a bowl of milk, trying to form the longest and most complex words you can. You're also trying to do this quickly, as these "krispies" don't stay crunchy, especially in milk. Anyone who was a fan of Bookworm should be pleased with this game, as the two titles share similarities. It doesn't have as strong a dictionary as Popcap's version (it didn't recognize "velcro," for example), but it's more graphically impressive. Word Krispies is an excellent diversion for people who like to think while relaxing. Scoring (out of five stars):Graphics: Ease of use: Gameplay: Difficulty: Sound effects: Music: Final analysis: |
